Dead Alive AKA Braindead

This gore fest comes from what has been called the “Splatter Period” of Peter Jackson’s career.  While I don’t think it can still claim its the goriest film ever made, it does hold up very well in the bloody mess it leaves behind.  Look out for the lawn mower scene as it may just be one of the greatest cinematic experiences ever filmed.

Plot:

A young man’s mother is bitten by a Sumatran rat-monkey. She gets sick and dies, at which time she comes back to life, killing and eating dogs, nurses, friends, and neighbors.
